Yanev Suissa, Founding General Partner
Yanev has spent his career investing in innovative technologies across both the private and public sectors. As the Founder and Managing General Partner of SineWave Ventures, Yanev is at the forefront of helping entrepreneurs build exciting new technology solutions. Yanev has spent over a decade investing with some of the top venture firms in the industry to help commercial technologies navigate, partner, and implement their products across multiple industry sectors. He is a strong champion of an ecosystem-based path to success, bringing technology partners in the commercial and public sectors together to help accelerate the growth and success of early stage companies.
Prior to SineWave, Yanev was an investor at New Enterprise Associates (NEA), the largest venture capital firm in the world, with over $18 billion in assets under management. At NEA, Yanev sourced, managed, and helped advise dozens of early stage companies. He also helped the NEA portfolio navigate the public sector, resulting in millions of dollars of revenue.
Before joining NEA, Yanev was a Senior Investment Officer in both the Bush and Obama Administrations, where he focused on investing in new cutting-edge technologies on the cusp of commercialization. He was the first person hired to build the Federal Loan Program, which during his tenure, grew to become a ~$150 billion investment vehicle.
Yanev was awarded both the Kauffman Fellowship (for venture) and the Presidential Management Fellowship (for public service), providing him with an extensive network of relationships across both the private and public sectors. He has also be a Heymann Fellow, Kennedy Fellow, and Cravath Fellow.
Yanev holds degrees from Yale University (B.A., Magna Cum Laude), Harvard Law School (J.D.), Oxford Said School of Business (M.B.A., Distinction, Christ Church), and Sydney Law School (Masters, Distinction).
Christopher Gaughan, General Partner
Christopher Gaughan has been an entrepreneur and executive in the alternative investment industry since 1999, after starting his career in the capital markets groups at Bear Stearns and Lehman Brothers in the 1990s.
Mr. Gaughan was the co-founder and President of global macro hedge fund Big Sky Capital (’99-’06), where he was primarily responsible for managing the firm’s operational processes, while also leading efforts to source, screen, and execute side pocket investments in venture and growth capital opportunities. After Big Sky, Chris was the founder and CEO of Condesa Financiera, a specialty finance company in the business of originating, acquiring, and securitizing home mortgages and construction loans in Mexico. He was also the co-founder and President of structured credit hedge fund Illumination Asset Management, and was a principal at MatlinPatterson Asset Management, a hedge fund and private equity firm with $7.6 billion in assets under management.
Mr. Gaughan graduated from Yale University (B.A., Economics & Political Science) in 1991 and is a CFA Charterholder.
Patricia Muoio, Venture Partner
Pat is a venture partner specializing in the areas of cybersecurity and information processing. She serves as Director of Research and Development for an engineering company where she advises on technical strategic direction, runs the research line of business, and builds connections between the company and external research organizations in industry, academia, and government. Prior to transitioning to these advisory roles, Ms. Muoio worked for 30 years at the National Security Agency in a variety of technical leadership roles, most recently as the Chief of the Trusted Systems Research Group. Her details to the National Reconnaissance Office and the Office of the Director of National Intelligence add breadth to her understanding of the technical needs of the Intelligence Community.
Pat has a BA from Fordham University and a PhD from Yale University, both in Philosophy.
Robert Rodriguez, Venture Partner
Robert is a venture partner focused on cybersecurity innovation and other science and technology initiatives for both public sector and commercial applications. Robert is the founder and Chairman of SINET, an organization dedicated to building a cohesive, global Cybersecurity community with the goal of accelerating innovation through collaboration. Robert has advised and coordinated the public – private sector outreach for DHS Science & Technology, SRI International, Stanford University, UK government, Dept. of Defense, US Postal Service, and several others. Prior to founding SINET, Robert spent over twenty-two years as a Special Agent with the United States Secret Service where he held a number of leadership roles within Executive Protection, Protective Intelligence and Criminal Investigations, including the creation of the first Secret Service Electronic Crimes Task Force on the West Coast.
Robert serves on several boards of advisors, including The Chertoff Group, San Francisco Foster Farms Bowl, Standard Governing Board for Digital Rights Management (xDTM), and several other Cybersecurity Advisory Boards.
Karen Evans, Venture Partner
Karen is a venture partner focused primarily on cybersecurity and other public sector technology initiatives. Karen currently serves as the National Director for the US Cyber Challenge (USCC), which is a nationwide talent search and skills development program focused on the cyber workforce. She also serves as an independent consultant in the areas of leadership, management, and strategic use of information technology. Previously, Karen spent nearly 28 years in federal government service, holding several positions with a wide range of responsibilities, including Administrator for E-Government and IT at the Office of Management and Budget (OMB) within the Executive Office of the President. At OMB, Karen oversaw the federal IT budget of nearly $71 billion, which included the implementation of IT throughout the federal government. Prior to OMB, Karen was the Chief Information Officer for the Department of Energy.
Karen holds a BS degree in Chemistry and MBA from West Virginia University.
Oliver Libby, Venture Partner
Oliver is a venture partner focused on politics and policy initiatives related to science and technology. Oliver is a Founding Partner and Managing Director of Hatzimemos / Libby, a global growth catalyst firm based in New York City. From 2003 to early 2009, Mr. Libby was a consultant at Giuliani Partners LLC, a management consulting firm founded by former New York City Mayor Rudy Giuliani. In 2007, Mr. Libby co-‐founded The Resolution Project, Inc., a non-‐profit organization based in New York City, of which he is currently Chairman of the Board. Resolution empowers young leaders around the world through collaborative social entrepreneurship.
Oliver graduated magna cum laude from Harvard College.
Eric Hatzimemos, Venture Partner
Mr. Eric Hatzimemos is a venture partner focused on politics and policy. Eric is a founding member of Giuliani Partners LLC. Prior to joining the firm, Mr. Hatzimemos served as Assistant Counsel to Mayor Giuliani. In this capacity, he represented the Mayor on the Board of Trustees of the NYC Police and Fire Pension Funds and the NYC Employees Deferred Compensation Fund. He also helped set policy for the Mayor’s Office regarding all New York City employee pension funds having assets totaling approximately $100 billion. In addition, he was called upon to represent the City in critical negotiations with corporate leaders. Previously, Mr. Hatzimemos served as Assistant Criminal Justice Coordinator in the Mayor’s Office of the Criminal Justice Coordinator, was an associate at the Manhattan Law firm of Weg and Myers, PC and served as an Assistant District Attorney in Brooklyn. Mr. Hatzimemos received his law degree from New York Law School in 1992.
Brian Hibbeln, Venture Partner
Brian is a venture partner specializing in science and technology applications for the Department of Defense, Intelligence Communities, Department of Homeland Security, and others. Brian is currently Director at the Remote Sensing Center at the Naval Postgraduate School. Previously, Brian was the Chairman of the US Government Cyber S&T Working Group, after serving as the Assistant Deputy Undersecretary of Defense from 2004 to 2011.
Brian has a BS in Physics from the United States Airforce Academy and an MS in Engineering Physics from the US Air Force Institute of Technology.
